Q. Can we have 5 people in an apartment?
A. No. Amsterdam city regulations prohibit more than 4 people per apartment. Please do not try to sneak anyone in the apartment, you will be asked to leave without a refund.
Q. What's in the apartment? What's included?
A. Linens, towels, hairdryer, several toiletries. The kitchen has dishes, cooking utensils, pots and pans. Iron board, iron, washer/dryer. Free wifi and more.
Q. Why are there so many Q&As and rules?
A. This is to ensure you have a good, comfy stay and know exactly what you are booking -we want you to be happy.
Q. We are coming for a stag party. Is Funky Chickin a place for us?
A. AHHHH that depends! If you are respectful of your surroundings, neighbors and can keep the noise down after 23:00 then yes. If you want a party place where you can make noise and go wild, then no.
Q. Is there someone on the property from your company?
A. Yes, there is someone who lives here to keep the peace!
Q. Is there air conditioning?
A. No, just the windows that open.
Q. Is there a lift (elevator)?
A. No, just the lovely stairs.
Q. How are the stairs? Will someone carry my luggage to my apartment?
A. They are typical dutch stairs. It's not so scary, just takes some getting used to. Hold onto the hand rails and you'll be just fine. Please keep in mind that huge luggage might be difficult to haul up the stairs (as there is no one that can carry your bags up). You are responsible for your luggage.
Q. Do the apartments get cleaned daily?
A. No. If your stay is longer than 7 days, your linens, towels will be changed and the apartment cleaned mid-stay. Cleaners clean around your items.
Q. We don't want to clean up after our stay, can we still stay here?
A. Sure depending on what kind of mess you are planning on making. If you leave the apartment excessively dirty, you will have money taken out of your deposit. Everything can be worked out in advance, no worries.
Q. Can we smoke in the rooms?
A. Yes. Cigarettes, hash and weed.
Q. Is it legal to smoke on the streets?
A. Pretty much not a problem because the police do not enforce that law.
Q. I am a non-smoker. Are there non-smoking apartments available?
A. No, all apartments are smoker-friendly. If you are sensitive to smoke, we would suggest booking at a non-smoking establishment. If someone is smoking in the building, it will travel throughout.
Q. Is it noisy? Can I get a quiet apartment?
A. It all depends on what's going on in the city. People come and go throughout the night. While there is a no-noise policy after 23:00, you can still hear people moving around. Also, you are in the center of the city, so there will be residual noise from the street. The city center always has some sort of construction going on, so be advised.
Q. Do you accept credit cards?
A. No, cash only (the refundable deposit is also due in cash form).
Q. Do you accept foreign currency?
A. No, Euros only.
Q. Where is the nearest cash machine?
A. 3 minutes walk away. At the corner of Raadhuisstraat and Singel or at Dam Square.
Q. Where is the nearest money exchange?
A. On Damrak approximately ten minutes from the apartment.
Q. What is expected at check out? Do I have to clean up after myself?
A. Yes, you need to leave the apartment in the condition it was given to you. All dishes must be washed and put away and all garbage collected.
Q. My flight leaves in the evening, where can I leave my luggage after check out?
A. There are some cases that you can leave your items in my apartment and pick them up later, but this is not guaranteed. There are luggage storage (lockers) at Amsterdam Central Station.
Q. Do I have to call you when I arrive in Amsterdam? Can I just show up when I get there?
A. Yes, you do need to call me since I am not always here and sometimes need 30 minutes to get here to check you in. For your convenience (and mine) a call ahead will ensure your speedy check in.
Q. Is someone easily reached in case something happens (we get lost, lost keys, get sick).
A. Absolutely! I am always easily accessible by phone. You can call me 24 hrs a day if needed.
Q. Is there a concierge to help me while I am there?
A. No, but I can do my best to help you out.
Q. Can I have guests in the apartment? How many? Can they spend the night?
A. You can have 2 guests maximum during the day, but no guests after 23:00. Guests are not allowed to spend the night, only those in your booking group. If your guests are loud, rude or disruptive - they will be asked to leave and you will no longer have guests over for the duration of your stay.
Q. Where is the nearest grocery store?
A. Albert Heijn at Dam Square (2 minute walk away)
Q. Where is affordable parking?
A. At Ajax Arena near Biljmer or at Olympic Stadium. Park your car and return on the tram to Central Station.
Q. Is the tap water drinkable?
A. Yes.
Q. Is the 5% city tax included in the rate? Are there additional deposits that need to be paid?
A. No, all reservations are subject to the 5% city tax. There is also a 100 euros refundable deposit for keys/damage due at check in.
Q. We booked an apartment. How many bedrooms do we have?
A. I only offer studio apartments - there are no bedrooms. All beds, living area and kitchen are in the same room. The shower and toilet are in a separate room.
